I purchased version 1.x, do I have to pay again for version 4?

There is no need to pay again, you are automatically upgraded to version 4 Standard Edition, all new features will be available to you.

I purchased version 2.x, do I have to pay again for version 4?

For version 2 paid users, you will receive a perpetual license for Standard Edition in version 4. All existing features in version 2 will be available to you, plus some additional new features. You can explore new features in version 4 Pro Edition by starting the 14-day free trial.

If you are happy with the new features in the Pro Edition, you can subscribe to the Pro Edition for 1/2 the regular subscription price compared to a new user who has never purchased version 2.x.

I purchased version 2.x, and if I subscribed to the Pro Edition for one year and decided not to continue with the subscription for the next year, do I get my Standard Edition Perpetual License back?

YES! When you decided not to renew for the Pro Edition, you will get your Standard Edition Perpetual License back. We continue to improve ApolloOne, new exciting features will come to the Pro Edition first.

Can I use the free version indefinitely?

Sure you can! However, a message will popup reminding you to purchase a subscription after using the free version for 14 days. We hope you enjoy using ApolloOne!

Working with NAS

Apple has discontinued the support for AFP (Apple Filing Protocol) since macOS 10.9. Apple currently recommend SMB networking protocol when connecting to a NAS device. Current AFP implementation (up and including macOS Monterey and Ventura) is very buggy and can cause ApolloOne to appear to hang when accessing a NAS folder.

To work around this bug, you need to remove all network folders you added in ApolloOne. Then login to your NAS and enable SMB protocol (if not already enabled). Then disable AFP protocol. You may lose connection to your NAS once AFP is disabled. You will need to reconnect to the NAS using Finder and macOS will use the SMB protocol instead.

Once AFP is disabled, you can add your network folders back to Places in ApolloOne.

Working with JPEG XL Files

ApolloOne may not be able to display metadata with certain JPEG XL files. You need to install CPAN Brotli module in order to decode these JPEG XL metadata.

To do so, open Terminal, and type:

sudo cpan -i IO::Uncompress::Brotli

You will be asked for your login password, assuming you have administrator privilege.

This may take a few minutes to install. Once installation is complete, you should be able to see all the metadata with your JPEG XL files.

Music not playing in Slideshow

Under newer versions of macOS such as Sequoia, you may need to add permission to allow ApolloOne to access the music tracks and playlists in Apple Music. Usually, ApolloOne will prompt you for permission when you start the Slideshow to allow access to Apple Music. If you answered "Don't Allow", you can add this permission back later on under System Settings.

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music

Add ApolloOne to the list to allow access to Apple Music.
